Vivaldi recital stopped by Attendents at the Pantheon
Why are there no classical concerts on in Hull over christmas? This is one of the few times of the year that I get a chance to go back to Hull and visit my family. I've just looked to see whats on and there is nothing remotely to do with classical music playing in Hull. All the people of Hull have to enjoy, primarily at the City Hall are:
Les Grays MUD (WHO??)
A T-REX tribute band
And a fantastic new music show starring Lulu, Chaka-Khan and Anastacia, erm though it doesn't say whether the real musicians will all be appearing, I very much doubt it.
Tomorrow there will be carols by the Hull Choral Union, which presumes that choral singing (outside of a church) does exist in Hull, well I never.
There is a bright beacon of hope though, in the new year, on the 15th of January the Halle will be playing at City Hall, its just a pity it will be too late for me. One of these days I will attend a classical concert in Hull, if only to satisfy my curiosity whether all attendees will have arrived using their free bus passes or not. I wouldn't normally have said that most people who go to hear classical concert are over the 50 mark, but in Hull, I would say it's truer than most places. Unfortunately
My apologies, I almost finished this, forgetting to mention that Status Quo will also be in Hull on the 19th, Rockin all over the World, including the people of Hull for the night. Pity I'll still be in London then, though it's a sell out apparently.
